The added bonus of uploading your photos to foto depot, is that they are then backed up - for FREE! No monthly storage fees, and if something happens to your hard drive or your CD, guess how happy you will be to hop onto your foto depot account and be able to access your photos?! So start uploading all your photos NOW.  It does take awhile for the photos to upload as the entire resolution is uploaded (many places only upload enough to make a 4x6 print). Wooooohoooooooo!!!!  I of course know you guys rock, but now so does the rest of Canada.

I am currently in Montreal with my dad (aka Marcel).  We are here for the Canadian PMA (Photo Marketing Association) trade show.  Today we were at meetings for Foto Source (the buying group we belong to, so that even though we are an independent, we have the same buying power as the big boys and can offer you great pricing AND great customer service and support and great programs like Foto Depot!)

My one word of advice is don't wait for your photos to upload as it does take some time to upload them.  The reason for this is that the full resolution is uploaded.  That way you can order whatever you want with them online, not just a 4x6.  Most places just upload enough to get you a 4x6 which makes it quicker initially.  The great part about foto depot, is once you have uploaded your picture, it is instant to access it, no waiting for it to upload again.

So my suggestion is to select a group of photos to upload and then go make dinner, or go to bed (that is what I usually do), or you can continue working on your computer on something else.

I am working at getting all my digital photos uploaded (I have many many many!) and each night I try to upload another date or few dates.  Gives me so much peace of mind knowing I have this additional form of backup if something happens to my computer.

Digital Boot Camp

Crop and Edit in Foto Depot!

Great news!  Now you can not only crop your photos in Foto Depot, you can do all sorts of editing such as changing to B&W and sepia, brightening and darkening, adding text and borders, and more!  You can even add special effects such as selective soft focus, remove red-eye, etc.  It's the coolest thing!  You just call up a photo (with the little magnifying glass icon) and click the "edit with Picnik" button, and off you go!
