Back from the cabin. Ended up staying an extra 2 days which was very nice. Had a great time with all the relatives on my dad's side of the family. We are a crazy bunch when we all get together. Take the "crazy hats" we brought back from our Chicago trip. We come out wearing these, and within minutes, crazy hats are coming out of cabins, cars, everywhere. What a bunch of goofballs. I'd show you, but they'd not be happy with me :) Actually, I can show you my siblings, because they can't get mad at me for this! We laughed lots and lots more, sang crazy songs, danced the YMCA, and enjoyed each other's company. One of my cousin's said to her husband as he looked a little warily on from the background - "Don't worry dear, you have to be born into it, not just married into it!" Next year is my mom's side of the family - equally as crazy. I was glad when I met Doug and met his extended family - there were just as many of them and they were just as crazy.
The last few days were quite relaxing. So nice to go out onto the porch and hear...nothing! Except the squirrels chirping and the birds singing. Not like at home when the phone is always ringing, tv is on, etc.
Yup here we are - hair not done, no makeup on ...very peaceful. I did find though, that I didn't relax as much as I usually do, because I was thinking of everything I have to do for work and at home. I have to not do that and live in the now, usually I am able to do that at the cabin, but I have so much going on, I wasn't able to relax as much as I usually do. Breathe. Enjoy the day and don't worry about tomorrow.
Even got to Penticton for a day of relaxing on Okanagan Lake with fellow PE'er Tracy W. and her family. Had lots of fun even though the water was cold!
I always look forward to our time at the cabin. I have been going there since I was around 10 years old. Have so many happy memories there, and now our kids are getting their own happy memories there. I was going to scrapbook our Chicago trip, but with everything going on, didn't even open my bag. And I am totally ok with that. Too many people, let scrapbooking become an all or nothing thing - either that is their entire life and they lose out on so many of the moments in life, or they don't do anything at all because they can't give it their entire life. There needs to be a balance between making the memories and saving them. You need to scrapbook because you have a life and you want some of your story to be shared with others. Just don't let it take over living those stories.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time!!
