I normally try to keep this blog not too philosophical/political/deep etc, but today is a day that I want to share my thoughts. You may or may not agree with them, and that is totally OK. That is one of the benefits we have of living in a wonderful country like Canada - the freedom of thought and speech. Each one of us is a unique individual with a specific purpose in life.
Amazing that it has been 5 years since that horrible day called 911. I still vividly remember watching the television in complete disbelief, tears streaming down my face. The amount of destruction and the number of lives lost was devastating. I just couldn't and still can't comprehend how a human mind can think that that kind of destruction is ok in the name of their religion or anything. I was having a conversation with someone about this fact, and they made a good point that if you are told your whole life that 2+2=5, that is what you believe. I guess when you are told your whole life that the US is the source of all your problems and all the problems in the world, you believe it with your head. And when you are told that violence is the answer, you believe that too. And when you are told that you too must die for that belief, you believe that too. And when you are told that all other religions, are the source of your problems, you believe that too. It makes me very sad. It makes me very angry. How as a human being can you let that seem ok in your head? I pray for these souls, that they will come to realize that violence like this is definitely not the answer. As hard as it is to do, they do need prayers - lots of them.
There was also the other side surrounding these events though - the incredible way that complete strangers pulled together to help each other. The incredible way that people helped out in any way possible - some large some small, but all so meaningful. It showed the strength of the human spirit and photo after photo of people helping, brought tears to my eyes. May these people always find comfort knowing that they were able to help when it was so needed. May the images that haunt them fade and the pain in their hearts lessen as the days go by. They also need prayers - lots of them.
And then there were the victims. The amount of people that died in this event was staggering. Many were just going about their daily life, and it was cut short. Many died saving others. I have no idea whether or not you believe in God or a higher power, but I certainly do and I know that day, that he had a lot of angels join him in heaven. My faith gives me comfort knowing they are in a better place and not in any pain. They also need prayers - lots of them.
And last but definitely not least, there were the friends and families of these victims. How quickly their lives were completely torn apart. Their lives will never be the same. They will rebuild, as the human heart and head is strong. I wish for them all the happiness that is humanly possible in their lives, for they have suffered a loss in a horrific way. We all have loved ones pass away, as no one lives forever, but it must be even more painful when it is in such a violent way. I think they need the most prayers - lots of them.
We are told to live each day to the fullest and let those you love know it, because you never know when your time is to come. How many of us get so busy with day to day life though, that we don't do this. The need to live in the moment and treasure each day as a gift is something we can all take from this. Take a few moments, to tell those that mean the world to you, that you love them and are so glad they are part of your life. It will mean the world to them. I know that all of you, my friends I have made through the scrapbooking world mean so much to me and I love you guys.
And even if you don't believe in prayer, pray for all these people. I know prayer works, and your's will.
