I did my first karate belt test tonight (now I know why the girls always said they were so nervous).
I am proud to say, I am no longer a white belt- I passed and am now an advanced white belt! lol
And the rest of my family all passed too! My youngest thinks it is quite funny that she is two belts higher than mommy!

when your 12 year old daughter has a pool party planned with her friends and you wake up and it is raining?!
Monday was super hot and sunny, and yesterday...what is up - rain? Makenzie had planned a party weeks ago, for yesterday. It was a "just because" party and she had all the Hawaiian games and relay races planned for outside and they were going to swim. All this was good, because we are currently having the inside of our house painted (translating into furniture in the middle of all the rooms) as we are possibly going to be selling it this fall.
So I wake up yesterday, to the thought of 13 girls in my house now because it is raining. Scrapbooking to the rescue! We managed to clear a space in the kitchen area and the girls had lots of fun decorating their flip flops with ribbon (I now need to replenish my ribbon stash). Pull out some of your ribbon and go crazy on your flip flops! (or those of some child near you - they will love you for it!)
Then, being 12, they decided to go swimming in the rain! They lasted longer than I thought, and came in when their lips started turning blue!
While they warmed up, they created scrapbooks. I had the Die Cuts With A View Scrapbook In a Stack kits (each one has cardstock, patterned paper, stickers and vellum quotes in a pad), and they each created their own 8x8 album. They had a ball and each album was totally unique. I loved watching them and listening to them laugh and sing along to the tunes playing. I made each of them promise to add photos of their summer to their album AND journal in it. (See no one is safe from me encouraging them to get "something" done! Not even kids.).
The rain stopped so we could bbq dinner and then they watched a movie. They all slept well last night I'm sure! (Mine are still sleeping!)

Big thank you to everyone who came to our Come Crop With Us Fundraising crop on the weekend. I had so much fun scrapbooking all day! And we were able to raise just over $2,800! Thanks to Nona for donating the delicious fudge, Tam for the adorable buttons, and Gail for doing the envelope into a gift bag make and take, very cool!
I was able to get quite a bit done, despite all the time I had to spend doing "not actual scrapbooking". The key to getting lots done is to preplan and to make up "kits". Here are the supplies I brought:

Here is a page kit I started with and here is a completed layout.
By having everything ready to start scrapbooking, I was able to complete many layouts during the crop. (9 double page layouts.) It felt great to get "something" done! I really enjoyed the crop also because my two oldest daughters came (10 and 12) with me. It was a great way to spend time with them, and they got tons done!

I am just about jumping out of my skin I am so excited for the crop tomorrow! I don't often get a chance to sit and scrapbook for an entire day! 12 hours of bliss!
My 2 older daughters (12 and 10) have decided to come also and they are super excited. Makes me happy to see them excited about scrapbooking. So the last two days we have created over 30 "Getting It Done" page kits! We will be getting lots done tomorrow and having fun! After we go set up the gym tonight, we just have to pack up our basic supplies and we are good to go. Yayyyyyy!!!

One of our PE friends, Nona, has graciously offered to make fudge to sell at the crop with all the money going to the walk. I LOVE fudge and this is by far the best fudge I have ever tasted. When she brings some to the store for us, you hear squeals and yells of excitement and before you blink the fudge is vanished into our tummies. She will be selling them for $2 a bag so bring your toonies (you may want to bring lots of them once you taste this fudge!)
