A few things

Hi everyone, hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are finding some time to enjoy your family and friends. Our Christmas was wonderful and busy.  I can't believe it is back to school in a week already!  I think Christmas vacation should be at least 3 weeks long!

Our Boxing Day sale is going strong and lasts until January 4th.  If you are a club member, everything in the scrapbooking department is on sale 20-90% off!  Great deals to be had so make sure to stop in.

You may have a few nights or days over the next few weeks where you don't have specific things scheduled.  Spend some time getting your photos in order on your computer and PRINTING them! Remember, the technology may not exist in a few years or 20 years to view your hard drives or your disks.  To view a print, you just need your eyes! To fully enjoy your pictures, they need to be a print!

To encourage you to start the new year off right, all Foto Depot orders are 50% off until Jan 15th!  As many orders as you want.  Just enter the 50% off as your code in the comments section. So start right now, and upload all your holiday photos to foto depot.  Just go to www.pephotos.ca and click on the fotodepot box.  It will ask you to create an account if you don't already have one (it is just your email address and a password as the photos are only viewable by someone with your password).  Then select some files and hit upload.  Easy peasy.

Don't sit around waiting for the photos to upload as our system uploads the full resolution - so it can take some time.  Hit upload and then work on something else on your computer, or go make dinner, or go to bed.  Once the photos are uploaded, it is instant to access them and order prints.

The added benefit of doing this, is you have a FREE additional backup of your memories. 

So promise me, you will spend some time between now and the 15th of January, uploading some of your photos to Foto Depot and PRINTING them! I guarantee you won't regret it!

Creative Corner with Kaylyn - Girly Birthday Cards

Well, I am at home now and boy do I miss seeing everyone! I am now 30 weeks pregnant and getting more and more anxious to meet this little one! A couple months ago, we were able to find out we were having a boy. Our son, Brayden, is excited to have a baby brother on the way!

 

Before I went in for the ultrasound, Imaginisce came out with the princess line. I fell in love with it. I knew that if it was a girl I would have bought every single piece from the line. Told my husband that my scrapbooking area would double! He did not think that was too funny! I still loved the fairytale theme. Picked up some of the stamps and papers. So, I made some birthday cards.

A few techniques & tips:

To add the flowers simply put a couple Glue Dots in the centre of the flower and fold over. Place a couple more Glue Dots to the paper and then attach the flower. I prefer to pop dot the paper being used. It prevent the flower from being crushed.

 

Once you have goosebumped a piece of paper, drag your ink pad over the raised bumps. It will make your images pop. It adds a nice effect to your card.

 

Try using eyelets on your cards. It is a neat way to use ribbon on cards!

The Friends in Need Foodbank just phoned us with the total amount of food you so generously donated during the Nikon D40 contest...

2111 lbs of food!!!  Woohooo. That is over a ton!  They send a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have helped them get through this season.  I thank you also for your generosity towards others. 

I had them leave the box up front, so still remember to bring in some food items when you stop in for a visit.  If everyone does a little, it adds up to a lot and makes a big difference.

Food Bank Contest Winner of the Nikon D40!

Congratulations to Randi, the winner of a brand new Nikon D40 camera (worth $500!) in our 25th Anniversary Food Bank contest!  The final numbers aren't in yet, but PE customers donated more than 2000 pounds (over a ton!) of food to the Friends In Need Food Bank serving Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Thank you all so much for helping those of all ages in our area who don't have enough to eat.  We were particularly encouraged by all the baby food and supplies donated.

Randi is going to pay it forward by giving her current camera to her son, who can then capture all the everyday and special moments in his life.

Even though the contest is finished, PE will still continue to be a drop off location for food for the Friends In Need Food Bank. This season is so crucial for them to be able to offer their services into the new year.

Again, a big THANK YOU for your generosity.

Spellbinder Sleigh Die is in

The gorgeous Sleigh Die that we had a beautiful sample card done with (unfortuantely I can't show it to you, as someone liked it so much they decided to take it home with them) is in.  This is a retired die, but Spellbinders searched their warehouse and I took all they had.  We only have 15 in stock, so if you want one, don't delay.  It looks so gorgeous cut in the copper paper.  There is also a reorder of dies and some more new ones in too.  Today is the last day of buy one get one 50% off (we are open until 9).

Get The Picture! Ryan's Big Canvas

Sometimes it's who you know.  Ryan knows pro photographer Tracy Fowle as his sister-in-law (and PE customer), and he knows Photo Express foto source as the place to get custom printing and framing.  So when Tracy took an amazing photo of his family this Thanksgiving on River Road in Maple Ridge, he and his wife Sherri wanted to make a statement.

So they brought the image to Photo Express and decided to go big - real big!  Below is Ryan with his beautiful canvas print, 42x75 inches ( 3½ x 6 feet!).  It's tough to see in the photo, but the canvas is "gallery wrapped", which means the image is actually stretched around a wood frame, so no other frame is necessary.  Just hang and enjoy.  The print is going up in their great room, and guess what?  Nobody is going to miss it!

As their children grow, this photo will only get more precious with time (and it won't fade either, it's printed with archival inks and paper).

Book Signing on Saturday

Local author and long-time PE customer Don Waite will be at Photo Express on Saturday, Dec 13th from 11am-12pm to sign his new book, Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows: A History in Photographs.  Bring your own copy or purchase one at the store for $35.
